There are no known issues or shortcomings with the receiver and we have arranged to have all the dial lamps replaced so that they should operate for a considerable time without further servicing. Operationally, the receiver has been fully tested and performs very well with excellent sensitivity on its various receiving bands. However, if you are not in government, the unblocked version is typically unavailable to you. If you are in government, you formerly could purchase such a receiver for $1900. If you want a unit that has a beautiful appearance, we regularly offer such an IC-R8500 in our Ebay store at the higher price. The receiver has been priced about $300 lower than what we typically offer these receivers to acknowledge the current cosmetic condition. This unit is the government unblocked version and it receives from 100 KHz thru 1999.99 MHz with no gaps in coverage (the 800 MHz range normally unavailable to users).
